Amazon Development Center Romania

Opened in 2005, Amazon’s Development Center in Iasi was Amazon’s first R&D facility in Eastern Europe. It plays a major role in the city’s burgeoning tech industry, employing skilled experts who are inventing exciting new technologies in the fields of Cloud Computing, Information Security, Machine Learning and Data Analysis.

The Center is also known for the business teams who manage programs for our Retail, Compliance, employing associates, specialists and program managers across Retail Business Services, Compliance Operations, Digital Imaging Services and Amazon Creative Services.

In 2017 a second corporate presence was established in Romania’s capital. The Amazon Development Center Bucharest is home to Speech and Language Solutions for Alexa, Alexa Product Testing, as well as Amazon Web Services (AWS) teams working on key technologies for the Elastic Cloud Computing (EC2) service.

Day 1(D1) organization is built as a centralized center of creative excellence, aimed at delivering compelling and engaging customer advertising and experiences, and elevating the Amazon brand globally.

Our young GPS design team has as primary focus the creation of elegant, on-brand designs that provide a superior retail experience, working in close collaboration with art directors, UX designers, site merchandisers, product management, business teams and designers across international locations.

Compliance Operations (C-Ops)

Compliance Operations is one of the newest business units formed in Amazon Iasi, a young, expansive and motivated team. We are here to insure that Amazon’s products are compliant with regulatory and safety laws, and to keep our customers safe.

An usual day at the office for our teams could include: classifying dangerous products, checking customer reviews and safety concerns, restricting products that are not compliant, or enabling international trading of our products. Our power relies in our people, who are strongly contributing to a friendly environment and to high level operational excellence, by acting with integrity and accuracy.

Retail Business Services (RBS)

In Retail Business Services (RBS) we partner with Retail teams worldwide under the same goal of providing the best experience to clients shopping on our websites.

Since its launch in July 2011, RBS Romania became the main catalog service provider for the Amazon.it and Amazon.es portals, currently managing operations for all EU websites, as well as Mexico and Brazil. Our main activities focus on creating Amazon product pages, ensuring the content is accurate and up to date and resolving any issue that might appear on the supply chain. Today, our team consists in over 200 catalog specialists and continues to grow in order to cover for the ever-expanding Amazon business worldwide.

Digital Imaging Services (DIS)

Digital Imaging Services (DIS) team in Romania is responsible for supporting the post-production operations of high-quality imagery across global Amazon websites.

Our goal is to deliver the best-in-class visual e-commerce experience to help our customers make well informed buying decisions and to continuously drive innovation through constant reevaluation of existing workflows and development of new processes.
Our team possess a wide span of skills: from proficient image and video editing abilities to foreign language competencies, from analytical interpretation and elaborated attention to detail to ingenuous and creative thought process.

The Alexa Data Services (ADS) organization provides data creation, curation, and analytics services to help develop, test, and train the Alexa AI.
We work closely with internal customers like Machine Learning Science modeling teams, providing the critical data they need to improve Alexa’s Automatic Speech Recognition and Natural Language Understanding models and domain features.
